Video: Jochen Kirchhoff, Physics and Spirituality

Physics and Spirituality

A video (in German) about the lecture given by Jochen Kirchhoff on October 01, 2024 in Berlin.

Jochen Kirchhoff

Born in 1944, he has been on the trail of the mysteries of life since the age of 19.

He studied philosophy, history and German language and literature and was a lecturer in philosophy at Humboldt University and Lessing University in Berlin for many years.

His main interest has always been the relationship between man and the cosmos in terms of epistemology, natural philosophy and spirituality.

He is the author of books and essays and is a regular interview partner.

Jochen Kirchhoff's website can be found at “Jochen Kirchhoff, Wirken für ein geistig-kosmisches Menschenbild”, https://jochenkirchhoff.de.

In my view, Jochen Kirchhoff's lecture clearly shows the basic idea that knowledge is dependent on premises or mental preconditions.

Any kind of knowledge, scientific or spiritual, depends on what ideas or thoughts are taken for granted. These can become dogmas that hinder an expanded capacity for knowledge. Jochen Kirchhoff gives examples of this in his lecture: “The world is random, it has no telos, no goal” or “the world is explained by measurable quantities, it does not require a spiritual cause”. Or in other words: “Human sentience is part of any science” or “I assume that the world is alive and has a spiritual origin”. Using these examples, Jochen Kirchhoff then shows how such presuppositions lead to completely different views of the world and man and how certain presuppositions have historically shaped the view of the world and man in modern science.
